Web Connection Requirements Requirements

Visual FoxPro

Versions 9.0 8.0, 7.0 or 6.0 SP3 (dependending on version)

Web Servers supported

  • Internet Information Server (IIS 6-10)
  • IIS Express 7.5 and 10 or later
  • Apache 2.0/2.2 (on Windows)

.NET 4.5 or later

The .NET runtime is used to interface with the IIS Web server as well as provide various interoperability features to the FoxPro server application. Make sure that .NET 4.5 or later is installed. (check .NET version)

Visual Studio Community Editon (optional)

Web Connection ships with a number of new page templates and a Visual Studio extension that integrates Web Connection and FoxPro into your application workflow. Visual Studio Comunity is free for all but bigger corporate customers and provides a rich HTML development experience. It includes very rich Intellisense for HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and many tools and editors to make it easier to create Html. The Web Connection integration allows easy browsing to Web Connection scripts, templates and pages and directly jumping to the related FoxPro code. makes it even easier to work with HTML in this environment.

Visual Studio is totally optional. You can use any HTML editor you choose. We also like Sublime Text especially with Matt Slay's FoxPro plug-in, but any editor like WebStorm, Atom, VS Code, Notepad++ and many others will work just fine. You just won't get quite as rich an editing experience.
